Residential Wine Cellars
Residential wine cellars can vary in size shape, material, and certainly price.
A wine cellar can be refrigerated or simply for wine storage like a credenza. Residential wine cellars hold anywhere from 25 to 600 wine bottles.
When people speak of a residential wine cellar they are typically referring to a stand alone unit as opposed to a walk-in room. Wine credenzas hold between 120 and 250 wine bottles and are fine pieces of furniture made to suit any décor.
Other types of residential wine cellars are large hi-boy style wood wine cabinets. These usually have window panes on the doors to display the wine, also used as a piece of furniture. They have more functional wine cellars that have a wine cooling system and are called garage units. These wine cellars are the best buy as they hold 200-600 wine bottles, provide temperature control and are made of a durable material.
Prices can range from $180 for a small 10-bottle refrigerator all the way up to $4000 for a custom designed residential wine cellar that holds 600 bottles of wine with a cooling system.
